A friendly book club open to all. A chance to meet new like-minded lovely people in the area, and to read a wide variety of books and try new genres etc. All those who attend have a chance to choose the next books that we tackle, which keeps the list very varied. It is a very relaxed meetup involving lashings of tea and wine, and we are a group comprising mixed opinions, ages, gender... We meet the last Wednesday of the month in Usk (The Three Salmons Hotel), and occasionally in Llangybi (The Wh …
Let's eat and drink at great venues, meet new friends who live nearby and enrich our minds at the same time! This group has a local focus and is designed for people living in the vicinity of Hampton Court/Teddington. We'll read one book a month and then meet up at a regular time to discuss it. We'll meet at an interesting, new local restaurant, pub or café, or at people's homes if they're willing to make it festive with a few snacks and drinks! Book selection will rotate among the members, and …
The Lillies WI is one of the “next generation/lite” Women’s Institute groups, offering activities that are more relevant to the lives of modern women. We don’t sing “Jerusalem” but we do like jam, preferably in a cake! At our monthly, evening meetings we have taster sessions of crafts and activities, and talks from guest speakers. Our meetings calendar for 2013 includes: indian head massage; The Lillies bake-off; survival skills training; garden party; tea cosy & jewellery making; and wine tasti …

A book group based at the Veged Out Cafe in Fletcher's Walk in Birmingham city centre. At the moment we are meeting on the third Saturday of the month at 12. The cafe serves wonderful vegetarian and vegan breakfasts. Each month we choose and read a book and then meet up to talk about it- simple as that! We're a friendly and diverse bunch. Everyone is welcome!
A friendly group for people who are interested in meeting up to talk about books they've read, and anything related to writing and literature.
Welcome to Chichester Readers; a group of people who love books. The general idea is to meet every month or so, all having read the same book and to have a bit of a natter over a glass or two of wine. Marvellous. So far we have read: 1) Julia Stuart's 'The Matchmaker of Perigord' 2) 'The Memory Keeper's Daughter' by Kim Edwards 3) 'The White Tiger' by Aravind Adiga 4) 'Boiling a Frog' by Christopher Brookmyre 5) 'Night Train to Lisbon' by Pascal Mercier 6) 'The Irresistible Inheritance of …
From Austen to Zola, by way of PG Wodehouse, George Orwell, Nancy Mitford, Bram Stoker, Ian Fleming, Roald Dahl, Daniel Defoe, John Updike, Muriel Spark, Angela Carter and PD James...anything you flipping well like! We are a group which celebrates classic fiction, not self-published novels. Discussions take place once a month. Lots of talking, recommending, swapping books and being opinionated.
We meet at least twice a month to discuss all things Science/Sci-Fi from gadgets to writing. You will find us very approachable and friendly. Everyone welcome, no need to come to each meeting (we meet on the first Monday evening and fourth Saturday at 11am) each month. We often arrange film viewings if there's something many of us wish to watch and then discuss afterwards. We have arranged trips in the past to the Science Museum in London and plan to do more this year. Come along and see for you …
A group for those girlies stuck in the triangle between Reading, Basingstoke and Guildford who want to do something a little closer to home. Food, films, nights out, nights in and whatever else takes your fancy. I've recently moved to the area so am looking for people to provide their local knowledge or we'll discover the great spots for hanging out together.
