We will be meeting to exchange books, eat dinner and get to know each other. Additionally, we will be having a local author come and chat with us about her new book for 20 minutes or so, prior to our swapping. Here is some information on her: Ebony Dawn
Book Exchange: Please bring as many books as you have/as many books as you want to exchange. When we exchange the books, we first do a little intro to the books (what we thought of them, a little plot info, etc. Basically, just to tell the group about the book. . .this normally leads into many different discussions of other books, which is a lot of the fun!). The way we exchange the books is we basically purchase them. For each soft cover book, you get one token and for each hardcover, you get two, and then you purchase books back from the general pile for the same prices. You can still come if you do NOT have books. We would love the company
Food: So that we have plenty to eat, we do a pot luck. So, all you need to do is bring some item of food. It does NOT have to be home made, so no pressure. But, please try and bring something, so that the pressure to feed everyone is not all on the person hosting the meetup.
Dues: Because being the organizer does have monthly fees attached to it, I will be collecting $1.00 from each person at each meetup. If this is a problem, please talk to me/e-mail me.
Directions:
My apartment is in Cobble Hill, Brooklyn. It is actually a quick trip from Manhattan. The best way to get here to to take the A/C to Jay St/Borrough Hall and transfer to the F (by walking across the platform). Take the F two stops to Carroll St. When you get out of the station, walk with traffic on Smith Street for a couple of blocks until you reach DeGraw St. Make a left. I am 324 Degraw. Walk up the steps and hit the top buzzer.
You can also take the G train to Carroll Street station. If you need to take another train or would like driving directions, I am more than happy to provide them. Please just e-mail me and I will send them back to you, plus I will post them on the website for other people. I just don't want to crowd these notes with directions at this point.
